What matters in practice
The comparison should begin below the colour. Ask how smooth or contaminated concrete is prepared, how failed paint is removed, what happens at cracks and spalls, and how the proposed material handles vehicle traffic and winter residue.
A do-it-yourself coating can be reasonable when expectations are modest, the slab is sound and the owner is prepared to do the surface work correctly. The risk comes from treating preparation as cleaning alone or expecting a thin kit to correct concrete problems.
A professional quote should earn its price by explaining scope. Equipment, dust control, edge work, repairs, material quantities, broadcast, topcoat, handoff and warranty terms should be visible in the comparison.
