Cracks are common in concrete, especially in garages that have seen temperature changes, settling, vehicle loads and years of normal use. The key question is not simply whether a crack exists. It is whether the crack is stable, whether it is part of a control joint, whether there is vertical movement, and whether the surrounding concrete is still sound.
Stable cracks and small spalls can often be repaired as part of the preparation process. The repair work is done before the coating system is built, allowing the decorative layers to read as one intentional surface. The condition can become clearer after mechanical grinding removes weak materials and exposes the actual slab.
Some joints are designed to move, and some cracks indicate ongoing movement or more serious slab issues. Those need an honest conversation. A seamless decorative floor cannot stop a moving slab from moving, and a promise that a repair will be invisible forever is not realistic if the concrete continues to shift.
